Blood Cells

This test will tell you to which blood group you belong (A, B, AB or O) and whether you are RhD positive or RhD negative

What can I expect from this Blood Group?

This in-store test will determine your blood group and is called ABO typing. There are 4 main blood groups (types of blood) – A, B, AB and O. Your blood group is determined by the genes you inherit from your parents and based on which proteins are on the surface of your red blood cells.

Each group can be either RhD positive (+) or RhD negative (-), which means in total there are 8 blood groups. Blood group O is the most common group. Almost half of the UK population (48%) has blood group O.

Please note this test has a 2 to 3 day turnaround time.

Full Blood Count

Full Blood Count (FBC) provides information about the different cells in the blood, these include the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Red blood cells contain haemoglobin which carries oxygen to the different tissues in the body whereas white blood cells control the immune system and protects the body from foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. FBC testing are used as a screening test for various disorders like anaemia and infections.
