This in-store test will determine your blood group and is called ABO typing. There are 4 main blood groups (types of blood) – A, B, AB and O. The genes you inherit from your parents and the proteins on the surface of your red blood cells determine your blood group.

Each group can be either RhD positive (+) or RhD negative (-), which means in total there are 8 blood groups. The most common blood group is O. In the UK, almost half of the population (48%) has blood group O.
