Travel Precautions

Meningitis B is not related to travel abroad and has now become part of the NHS childhood immunisation schedule. However the NHS only provides immunisations for new born babies and will not vaccination children of an older age who were born after the vaccine was introduced into the NHS schedule.

Signs & Symptoms

The typical symptoms associated with Meningitis B include high fever, stiff neck, drowsiness and pale skin with a blotchy red rash. Some people may get stiff necks and aching muscles and joints.

The Vaccination

For Children aged from 2 years to 10 years old the vaccination consists of two doses at least two months apart. For people over the age of 11 the vaccination consists of two doses spread at least one month apart.
