Last-Minute Thailand Vaccines London: What You Can Still Get Done Before You Fly
May 7, 2026
7 minute read

Flying to Thailand in 5 days and just realised you haven’t sorted vaccines? Don’t panic. You’re not the first person to be in this position and you won’t be the last.
Partial protection from today beats zero protection at departure. Even with 72 hours to go, there are vaccines worth having. With a week or more, you can get properly covered.
At Ealing Travel Clinic on 30 Northfield Avenue, we handle last-minute Thailand travelers every single day. Same-day appointments available, most vaccines administered immediately, and you leave knowing exactly what protection you have.
What you can achieve depends on how much time is left. This guide breaks down each scenario clearly from two weeks (plenty of options) to three days (fewer options, still worthwhile).

How Much Time Do You Have?
2+ weeks before departure: You can get comprehensive protection (Hep A, Typhoid, DTP, JE accelerated, consider Chikungunya)
1 week before departure: Core vaccines still effective (Hep A, Typhoid, DTP start building protection immediately)
3 days or less: Partial protection strategy (Hep A, Typhoid, DTP still worth having - protection builds during your trip)
Same-day appointments available: Book online or call 0208 567 0982

Flying in Two Weeks or More — Most Vaccines Are Still Achievable
Two weeks is a workable window. You will leave properly protected for the most common Thailand itineraries.
Hepatitis A and Typhoid are the priority. Both take one to two weeks to reach meaningful protection, so booked today, you will be covered in time for departure. Hepatitis A is £45 per dose and Typhoid is £30 — both can be given in a single appointment alongside your DTP booster at £30. That is your core protection sorted for £105 in one visit.
The DTP booster is effective immediately if you have been vaccinated before, which covers most UK adults. If you cannot remember when you last had one, we can check and administer it the same day.
Japanese Encephalitis is still achievable on the accelerated schedule if your trip includes Chiang Mai valley, rural northern Thailand, or extended outdoor activity. Two doses given seven days apart, with full protection starting seven days after the second dose, means the minimum from first jab to protected is fourteen days. If you are flying in exactly two weeks, we can make it work.
Chikungunya vaccination (Vimkunya®, £175) reaches 98% protection at 21 days, but provides meaningful partial protection by day 14. For any trip of two weeks or longer, partial coverage from arrival is worth having — Thailand recorded 1,379 chikungunya cases in 2025, with Chiang Mai reporting the highest numbers.
You have good options — book today while you still have time. Call 0208 567 0982 or book same-day appointment online.
Flying in One Week — Still Worth Coming In

One week is tighter, but there is real value in a last-minute appointment.
Hepatitis A and Typhoid should be given today. Protection builds throughout the week and continues strengthening after you arrive — for a trip of two weeks or more, the vaccines will be providing meaningful cover for the majority of your time in Thailand. Neither is wasted by being given close to departure.
The DTP booster takes effect immediately if you are boosting existing immunity. One appointment, one visit, done.
Japanese Encephalitis on the accelerated schedule is worth discussing even at this stage. Dose one today, dose two on day seven, and protection begins building from day 14 — which means you will be in Thailand before full protection kicks in, but the second half of your trip will be covered. For rural travel or Chiang Mai valley, some coverage during the latter part of the trip is considerably better than none.
Rabies vaccination is worth starting regardless of departure date, particularly for travellers with children, those going off the beaten track, or anyone spending time in areas with stray animal populations. You can complete doses two and three during your trip or on your return.
Vaccines Work DURING Your Trip, Not Just Before
Last-minute vaccines aren't "too late" - they keep building protection after you arrive in Thailand. Hepatitis A given 5 days before departure reaches 60-70% protection by day 7, continuing to 95% by day 14. You're IN Thailand getting protected, not unprotected throughout.
Starting vaccination late is infinitely better than not starting at all.
This week matters — call 0208 567 0982 to confirm same-day availability. Don’t wait another day.

Flying in Three Days or Fewer — Come In Anyway
Very short notice, but still worth a visit. The principle holds at any timeline: partial protection is better than no protection.
With 72 Hours to Go — What Still Makes Sense
Hepatitis A One dose today starts building immunity immediately. It will not reach full protection before you fly, but it will be working from day one and protecting you throughout the trip.
Typhoid Same position. Administer now, protection builds over the first week in-country.
DTP Booster Give this today. Immediate effect if you have had the vaccine before. Takes under a minute.
Rabies Worth starting if heading outside city hotels, travelling with children, or going anywhere with stray animals. Complete the course during or after travel.
Japanese Encephalitis Cannot provide protection in this timeframe. Skip for sub-72-hour departures.
Chikungunya Minimal protection before departure, but consider for trips of a month or more where the vaccine continues working once you are in Thailand.

What to Prioritise When Time Is Short
If you have limited time and need to make quick decisions, follow this order of priority for most Thailand itineraries.
Step 1: Call 0208 567 0982 right now. Tell us your departure date and your rough itinerary. We will give you a clear answer on what is achievable and whether same-day vaccination is possible.
Step 2: Hepatitis A and Typhoid first. These cover the most common risk for the widest range of itineraries. Combined cost £75. If you can only do two vaccines, do these.
Step 3: DTP booster. One quick dose at £30. Almost always appropriate and immediate in effect if you have been vaccinated before.
Step 4: Assess for your specific itinerary. Chiang Mai or rural travel? We discuss JE on the accelerated schedule. Animal exposure or children travelling? We start the rabies course. Northern Thailand in the rainy season? Chikungunya is worth the conversation.
The £105 Core Package — Get This Today
Hepatitis A (£45) + Typhoid (£30) + DTP booster (£30) = £105
These three vaccines cover the most common Thailand health risks regardless of your itinerary. Can be given in one appointment, same visit. Protection begins building immediately and continues strengthening throughout your trip.
