A positive IgM result (recent infection) means you need to wait the full recommended period before trying to conceive—8 weeks for women, 3 months for men, counted from symptom onset or last possible exposure. Use barrier contraception during this waiting period. If you’re already pregnant and test positive, you’ll need enhanced monitoring including additional ultrasounds.
