A small number of UK ticks have tested positive for TBE. Between 2019 and 2022, four cases of locally acquired TBE were confirmed in England, in areas including Yorkshire, Norfolk, and parts of southern England. NaTHNaC also notes that TBE-carrying ticks can be found in UK parks and gardens. That said, the risk from UK ticks is very low compared to endemic European countries — most TBE cases in UK residents are linked to travel abroad.
