Yellow Fever Outbreak
March 20, 2017
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control have issued a warning to travellers of the risk of Yellow Fever in South America in areas which were considered to be a low risk previously.
There has been an outbreak of Yellow Fever in recent months in South America and this has led to a total of 4 yellow fever cases in European travellers to South America since August 2016. All of these travellers were not vaccinated against the Yellow Fever vaccine.
Advice to travellers is to make sure you are covered for Yellow Fever if heading to a risk area or where there has been an outbreak. If you are unsure on if this applies to you please make an appointment or call the clinic to get more advice. DEET mosquito spray while travelling is a must as well as awareness of symptoms to be wary of.
